Pack 29 will travel to the McWane Science Center (http://www.mcwane.org/) in Birmingham, Alabama for our winter family overnight trip. McWane Science Center has four floors of interactive science exhibits that provide a hands-on learning experience for everyone. This trip is open for the whole family. We will be allowed to roam the Center and interact with the exhibits after it has closed to the public for the evening. An IMAX movie will also be presented during the evening. Once it is time to settle in for the night, we will sleep among the exhibits (you will need to provide your own bedding, the bare floor will be a poor surface to sleep upon).

The fee includes an IMAX film, meals (dinner, late night snack, and continental breakfast), and next-day admission to the exhibit halls for everyone. Cub Scouts will be able to work on the Geology belt loop, Webelos will work on the Naturalist Activity Badge, and Boy Scouts will work on the Reptiles & Amphibians Study Merit Badge. T-shirts will be available for purchase for approximately $10 each. Scouts will also receive a patch for the event.

You may arrive at any time on Saturday for admission to the exhibits at no additional cost. We will meet in the lobby at 5 pm to check in. Please leave your camping gear in your car until after we check in. Dinner will be served at 6 pm. On Sunday morning, we must vacate the premises by 8:30 am following breakfast. You may return free of charge once the Museum reopens at 12 pm.

The cost to attend is $30 per Cub Scout/Boy Scout and $22 for everyone else ages 4 and up (Siblings age 3 and under are free). The deadline for registration is Saturday, February 7th at 11 pm CST. Registration and payment must be done via this website (payment through Paypal).

Two forms (Early Departure & Guardian Release) are required for every child in attendance. Please turn these in to Clyde Wikle no later than the Pinewood Derby on February 7th.  The forms as well as other detailed information can be found in the trip information packet on our website.

If you have any questions, contact Clyde Wikle.
